The Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology is seeking to hire a Deputy Director (Legal Affairs)

Requirements

A. Qualifications and Experience


Applicants are to be in possession of the below:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree at full MQF level 6 in Law or Legal Studies awarded by the University of Malta; and
  • Be in possession of a Master’s degree at full MQF Level 7 qualification in a Legal field related to the duties pertaining to the post; and
  • A minimum of three years’ working experience pertinent to the duties and responsibilities articulated within this remit. This tenure may encompass relevant legal advisory work and practice conducted prior to the formal issuance of the warrant (inter alia, during the period of pupillage), provided such experience aligns with the core competencies and technical demands of the role.
  • A warranted Advocate, duly admitted to the Bar and recognised to practice before the Superior Courts of Malta.

B. Personal skills/Technical skills/Disposition

  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills in both Maltese and English;
  • Be able to work on own initiative and in possession of excellent interpersonal skills to liaise effectively internally and externally;
  • Be analytical and display a sharp eye for detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a very fast-paced work environment;
  • Be able to work independently but also be a real team player, with a positive can-do attitude;
  • Possess networking skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships with people at all levels;
  • Be able to challenge ideas and current methods;
  • Have the ability to discuss sensitive and confidential issues with staff and maintain confidentiality.

The financial package in 2026 includes: an annual basic salary of €54,350; a performance bonus of up to 10% of the annual basic salary; an annual Communications Allowance of €1,200, an annual Transport Allowance of €3,200; an annual Expense Allowance of €1,700 and an Annual Allowance of €2,000, in line with the MUT Collective Agreement.
